" I heard there is an island in the corner of the world. It's a place drowning in old pirate treasure, where the forests are always golden. They say it's called World's End."

- The Daily Dragon

World's End is an island at the furthest point in the sea from any other landmass. So far from any other shores that it only receives visitors approximately once every two decades, and most times, these visitors arrive on accident. The island is not well known by other lands amidst the world, and some even believe its existence to be no more than an old pirates legend. It is believed that nearly three centuries ago, the feared pirate, Captain Samuel Tempest had buried his treasure somewhere upon an island at the end of the world. This treasure horde contained not only millions of gold pieces and priceless treasures, but also an ancient magical artifact that Captain Tempest had used to gain a dark magic allowing him to conjure any kind of storm. With this power, he had become one of the worlds most feared and well known pirates in history, nearly destroying parts of the world in his reign. When the Captain had finally met a gruesome end, at the blade of the leader of the Marines, the storm magic returned to it's original vessel, waiting for another soul. If such a power were to exist, it would surely be coveted by anyone. However most people on the waking world believed it no more than silly legend, thus the island faded into obscurity.Today, the island is a paradise. Decorated year round by beautiful autumn colors and gentle weather. Being so cut off from the rest of the world, it has become entirely self sufficient. News from the surrounding world never found its way to their shores. The inhabitants enjoy a peaceful and rewarding existence where everyone has their own purpose and place. There are 3 populated areas on the island. All sat rather close to others with only a brisk half-days jog between town borders. Within the main city settlement, lives nearly two-thirds of the islands ten-thousand residents. It is a bustling city full of life and love. This city is on the islands southwest most border, nestled right along the coast. It is the central hub of all life and activity on the island, holding most of the shops, government buildings, housing, port, and so forth. The other two smaller towns are more inland, and are home to the farms, distilleries, logging areas, mines, and more rural businesses. Alongside these towns, lies nearly a hundred miles of scarcely explored gold and red forests, rivers, waterfalls and mountain ranges to the north. Most people living on the island never set out too far into these forests out of fear of the dangerous beasts that are said to live within.

One fateful day a child washed upon the distant shores of an island...

It is not known how the child ended up on the island placed in a far forgotten corner of the world. Locals speculated that she had likely been aboard a ship and somehow fell into the sea, being carried to the nearest shore. She seemed to be no older than a few years at most, it was a miracle she survived the rough waters. She was quickly adopted by a couple living in the main city who's names were Wren and Ray Chi. They were a couple in their forties at the time, having no children of their own. They ran a successful restaurant on the island specializing in a dish of breaded pork atop a bed of rice and vegetables, smothered in a delicious spiced sauce. They decided to name the girl after this dish, calling her Curry. From this day forward, Curry was raised with the utmost love. She spent nearly every day inside the restaurant, listening to tales of adventure from the patrons, dreaming of a day she might one day go on an adventure herself.Soon after, she began to leave the safety of the town, wanting more and more excitement in her life. She would begin adventuring into the uncharted forests that made their home on the island. At first she only ventured in shallow, fearful of the creatures inside. As she gained more confidence, and became better with her sword, she ventured deeper and deeper, exploring the forest depths and slaying monsters much larger than she. By the time she was only fifteen she had nearly conquered the forests, fearing no beast within. She had even begun to tell her own tales of adventure to the patrons of her family's restaurant. But Curry wanted more, she dreamed of seeing the world one day, and she wouldn't have to wait long. One day, while Curry helped her parents at the restaurant, the island received its first visitors in nearly 2 decades. These visitors introduced themselves as one of the outside world's most notorious pirate crews, The Hell-keeper Pirates.

"The Hell-keeper pirates escaped marine pursuers once again after stealing millions from the government's treasury. Their captain was seen laughing as they sailed away"

-Headline from the world news

Led by the strong and daunting Captain Zen Lefox, they had made quite the stir in the modern world. Becoming the governments most wanted over their years at sea. They adventured far and wide, visiting all ends of the world, and having the time of their lives doing it. No treasure was too legendary, no island too far. This rag tag group made sure they would live their lives to the fullest and see all the world had to offer. That being said, despite being pirates, they were no monsters. They lived by a moral code, not causing harm or stealing from the innocent or less fortunate. Instead they sought long forgotten treasures, and tackled other villains throughout the world, and even tangled with the corrupt government forces who opposed them. Captain Lefox in particular was known to be a very warm and kind individual, giving a home and a purpose to anyone who needed one, and even sharing their wealth with those who needed it most.

"When those pirates arrived, I felt it in my gut. They were destined to bring a storm with them."

-World's End local

From the moment Curry set eyes upon the pirates, awe pooled in her innocent blue eyes. She marveled at their fancy garb and commanding presence. Pirates? She had never seen them in the flesh. Some locals occasionally spoke of such pirates, saying they were no good killers and thieves. But to actually see them with her own eyes was fascinating. She wanted to learn more about the ways of the world beyond her island. It wasn't long before she marched herself straight to the pirate Captain and challenged them to a duel. The villagers gasped and watched on with fear, as the scarred Captain towered over the girl. The air was silent as people anxiously awaited the outcome. Would they strike her down where she stood? Ignore her? A thunderous laughter echoed in the surrounding air."Tell me one thing kid," Captain Lefox's laugh trailed off as the air grew silent again, "why do you want to duel?"With a resilience in her voice, Curry replied simply, "I want to be strong enough to protect my dreams."
"Oh? And what are those dreams?"
"To protect the dreams of those I love!!... and maybe see every corner of the world too!"
And so the duel commenced... and quickly ended. Curry was alas, no match for the pirate Captain, though she blocked a single strike, she was left with a single scar over her right eye, as a reminder of that duel.
From that moment forward, Curry followed the pirates everywhere they went, constantly watching and learning from them.
The pirates were on the island by no coincidence. They had come in search of a great pirate treasure left behind by someone called Captain Samuel Tempest. In between searching, the pirates would sometimes give Curry lessons in swordsmanship, as well as tell her stories of their adventures. It seemed pirates were not as scary as they had been made out to be. In return for their lessons and stories, she helped them how she could, sharing the knowledge she had from exploring the island's forests.Alas, as the months began to pass, there was no sight of the island's treasure... though perhaps that would soon change. One quiet day, 4 months after the pirates had docked at the island, the Hell-keeper pirates were exploring the forests of the island along with young Curry in tow. They had been out in the forest for the last 4 days, crawling deeper and deeper in its clutches. At first, their journey into the trees was no different from the others they had experienced. But as they ventured deeper than Curry had even explored, the evil within grew more ferocious."Captain Lefox... Night's coming soon and it looks like a storm is on the horizon...""And the beasts of these parts... I can't be the only one who has noticed they are becoming more frequent... and more bloodthirsty."
The pirates voiced their concerns, breath slightly ragged.
Captain Lefox paused, their back to the others."And what would ye have us do? Turn back? Forget the treasure?" Their voice was low and unemotional."We've been searchin' for months Captain... maybe it doesn't exist.""Maybe it's time to move on... get back to the seas. Who knows what the government has done while we've been gone.""Aye." Captain Lefox's voice was more factual as they agreed "But isn't that the point?"The crew grew silent as they hung on the Captain's words. It had been a long few months, and hopes of finding Samuel Tempest's treasure had slowly began waning, especially as the foes got harder."If it were easy to find, it would have been found." they turned finally to face the crew "Think of all the times it's felt hopeless. The government dogs nipping at our heels, not knowing if today will finally be the day they catch us... Think of when we set out for World's End. Everywhere we went, we were told there was no island at the edge of the world. Yet the grass beneath my feet is real, the beasts are real-"A sharp scream pierced the surrounding area, cutting Captain Lefox's monologue short as a giant black beast lept from the treeline... Grabbing the young wide eyed Curry amidst its maw."Kid!"There was no time to think. More beasts appeared, surrounding the crew. It seemed they hunted in packs."Cap-tain!" Curry managed to scream, as she struggled against the beast, trying desperately to keep it's jaw from closing around her... but she was not strong enough. The beast's jaws slammed shut. The world slowed as pirates went sword to tooth with the monsters. None had noticed save for the Captain, who's previously carefree face had twisted into hatred as they pulled their weapon from its place at their side."You foul monster... this shall be your end."The two stared one another down, eyes locked in combat as each waited for the other to strike first. A strike would never come however, as the monster's sharp yellow eyes softened collapsing to the ground with a thud. A small sword poked from its rib-cage.When the battle had ended, and the young girl had freed herself from the beast. The Captain addressed the clearing."I've put ye all in too much danger.. Blinded by the treasure, I failed to remember the real treasure. My crew... We will head back to the main town, gather supplies, and find new horizons to-""You can't!" Curry's voice came as a yell and everyone turned their heads to the blood covered silhouette. "You can't leave...""Kid... The lives of my friends are more important to me than all the gold in the world. One day, you'll understand. Lets all start heading back. That's an order."The ragtag group of pirates turned around and began heading back to the mainland, abandoning their search for the treasure. But the weather had other ideas and it wasn't long before thunder boomed in the sky as rain pelted the earth, forcing the pirates to take shelter in a nearby cave for the night. They spent the night joking and telling stories, not noticing that one of them had gone missing.

"In order to receive the blessings of ancient pirate magic, one must leave behind a part of themselves."

-An old wives tale

During the storm, Curry left the cave and went on the run. Even if they gave up, she refused to. Perhaps if she found the treasure they would stay on the island and her life would continue to be full of adventure! If they left, she would return to working at the restaurant, listening to the patrons tell the same tales over and over again until she went mad.Curry didn't hate her life on the island, quite the opposite. She had always loved the endless golden and orange trees, the soft breeze in the air, how life seemed to bend and curve like the gentle lapping of waves. There was always a feeling of emptiness though, lurking behind her love for her home. She wanted to know where she came from and how she happened to wash ashore an island in the middle of nowhere. Her heart yearned to see the rest of the world, to meet thousands of new and unique faces, to find flowers she had never seen, foods she had never tried. That was why she refused to give up.As the rain pelted her angrily and monsters lurked waiting to pounce she ran hours into the night. Eventually her terrible sense of directions caught up to her. She had become lost in the dense night sky wandering aimlessly as the storm relented. It wasn't long before she was freezing, and a sense of dread began washing over her. Still, she ran, walked, crawled, and fought off beasts until the night grew tired and the day began to peak over the horizon. She reached the edge of the island's opposite shore from the main city. It would take days to find her way home. There was still no treasure. Her feet stood shakily in the wet sand as she watched the rain slam angrily against the waves in a constant battle. The sun began to peak over the furthest point of the horizon, though you could barely tell through the dark clouds. Curry was alone. More alone than she had felt in her life. With no company but the weight of her choices. A whole island between her and safety, nobody to know where she had wandered to. She would likely die out here, with no food, days between any civilization. This was assuming the rain didn't cause her to freeze first.
Why did she run? Was death really easier than facing her life?
She had plenty of time to ponder these questions as she wandered aimlessly along the beach. Did the treasure even exist? Surely in the hundreds of years since Captain Samuel Tempest had passed, someone would have found the treasure. If it had ever existed in the first place.
Hours of wandering crawled by as her bones grew tired and her eyes began to fill with tears. She was all too aware of defeat. Her heart tight in her chest, she sought shelter in a cave back on the beach. The cave was unimpressive and dark, but at least she was out of the rain. She wandered deeper into the cave, trying to find a dry place to rest within. Surprise came though as she stumbled across signs of life. Deeper in the cave, were old lanterns and long decayed crates and barrels. She could barely see as the light of the cave entrance had dissipated, but faintly, further in the cave was a blue glow that bounced subtly off the objects. With curiosity invigorating her, she carried down the dark path, the air growing thinner, but she didn't notice. She had the adrenaline of the unknown keeping her body moving. More and more signs of life were found as the light grew brighter. Old newspapers, abandoned cups and plates, sleeping set ups. It seemed as though life had once touched this cave. Not for a while she reckoned however, as everything was in various states of decay. Had the people of this island once lived over here? The faint glow soon became a blinding flash, blue light steadily pulsating as she approached what she could only imagine was the end of the tunnels. It was so bright that it seemed to create a wall of light. She was determined to see what was causing it though, so she closed her eyes and stepped into the light, a tingle rushing through her body as she did. Her skin prickled and the heat of the light enveloped her, but then it was gone. The light no longer peaked behind her closed eyes, the warmth disappeared, and suddenly she was once again cold and surrounded by darkness. Had it been nothing? She blinked open her eyes in disappointment, a shaky sigh escaping her lips as she did. Darkness surrounded her. It seemed the light had been nothing but her imagination. Perhaps the cold had caused her mind to deteriorate. She couldn't take it any longer and collapsed to the floor, accepting defeat. As her body hit the ground, the sound of metal shifting echoed against the cave walls. Her weak hands shuffled, running along the floor, only, it wasn't a cold rocky floor she found. It was small round metal.
"Coins?" Her voice was weak as she pulled one close to her face, squinting in attempts to see it in the darkness. As she did, a subtle blue light began pulsing again, reflecting against what she now saw to be a gold coin. It was like none she had ever seen on the island before, a skull in the center of the glittering gold coin. She jolted into a sitting position and looked around her. The blue glow was faint, but enough to see the hordes of treasure surrounding her. Gold, silver, copper, swords, crowns, chests, artifacts, jewels... She must have gone crazy. That was the only logical explanation, she was hallucinating.. Right? There was no doubt though, the coin she held in her hand was real.
Her eyes scanned the room in disbelief, before settling upon one item in particular. A small box, the source of the blue glow. On her hands and knees, she crawled over piles of gold and reached for it. The box was no bigger than a foot in legnth, but what it lacked in size, it made up for in details. It was made of a light wood, with golden and blue fillagry that appeared to depict lightning clouds. From the cracks within, a brilliant blue light rumbled. What did it contain? Her hands reached for the golden latch at the front and slowly moved it."Kid!" Voices echoed back from the cave and her eyes shot in their direction. The pirates? Had they followed her?"Over here!!! Come look!!!" She yelled out with a cracked voice.Excitement filled her heart as she lifted the lid of the box. Things were going to be okay. Her dreams were safe-
As the lid to the box opened slightly, a magical blast erupted from inside. Curry's vision went foggy and blue flashes overtook the room before her fingers began to burn. Then her whole body erupted with a pain like none she had felt before. The box dropped from her hands, falling to the ground as what felt like thousands of lightning strikes shot through her body. She felt like she was dying, being singed alive from the inside. All she could do was scream as electricity flew through her veins. It was all she could feel until her consciousness slipped away.

"Endless adventure is out there, just on the horizon. You need only to open your heart to find it."

-Curry

It was nearly a week before Curry's eyes dared open again. When they did, she found herself back in her bed at the restaurant. Her head throbbed angrily and her vision struggled to recover.
"A dream?" She questioned, pulling herself to a sitting position and surveying the room. Everything was undisturbed, nothing out of place. Had she really imagined it all? The pirates, the treasure?
The treasure. Her breath hitched and she flew out of the bed, feet stumbling. She flung herself towards her dresser, desperately leaning over it, as she peered at her reflection within the mirror that sat atop it. One hand stabilized her as the other reached for her right eye where a long scar decorated her face. It had been real. Which meant the box had been real.
Everything that followed was more or less a blur. Curry had flown down the stairs into her family restaurant, stumbling, asking after the pirates. Her parents had worriedly explained to her that the pirates were preparing to leave the island, and had apparently found what they were searching for. After that, she had taken off to the docks, where the Hell-keeper pirates were stocking the ship to set sail. The pirates were estatic to see she had survived and began explaining that they would soon depart, taking the ship to the other side of the island to extract Tempest's treasure. Captain Lefox also appeared, though it seemed they had sustained injuries since Curry had last seen them. Their arms were covered in red branching wounds as though the Captain had been struck by lightning."What happened to your arms?" Curry questioned the Captain with horror.
Lefox simply knelt down until they were eye to eye with the girl and offered a smile. "That box you opened was not just that. It was an ancient pirate artifact that comes with a big responsibility. You may not realize it yet, but a powerful magic is at your fingertips."
Curry's eyes trailed back to the wounds and then back to the Captain "What kind of magic?"
"The kind that could turn cities to rubble and change climates forever. The magic once wielded by Captain Samuel Tempest. You're going to have to train extra hard, every day to be able to control it" The Captain paused, offering another smile before getting back to their feet "One day you'll be able to use it to protect those dreams of yours though. I know you'll use it for good."
With those parting words, the Captain turned and began to leave for the ship.
"Captain Lefox!" Curry called after, causing the pirate pause "Starting today, I'm joining your crew!"
Thus the girl set sail, saying farewell to her home at the end of the world with the promise to return to the restaurant one day and tell them the tales of the world. She spent the years that followed in the company of her new crew, sailing from port to port, hunting for treasure, helping those who needed it, learning to control her new powers, and experiencing boundless adventure.

"The Cloudburst Pirates make waves as they once again infiltrate Marine headquarters and cause mayhem."

-The Daily Dragon

Curry D. Chi sailed the oceans for years aside the Hell-keeper pirates, even becoming first mate to their Captain for a time. Though the time eventually came when the Hell-keeper pirates grew older and decided to retire from the life of piracy. The crew disbanded, some leaving to find their own life and purpose, while others stuck around, unable to leave life at sea behind them.Among those was Curry, who stepped up and formed her own crew, known as the Cloudburst Pirates. They originally sailed under the Hell-keeper's ship until eventually being able to afford their own. Their new ship is a large vessel known as the Dream Chaser. It is here that the crew makes their home base. Over the years they have grown vastly in numbers, becoming a home to all sorts of souls from different ends of the earth and different walks of life. The crew welcomes all who come to them with wide arms, creating a home for those who join. Though the crew has been regarded by many as quite an odd bunch of pirates, they have made quite a name for themselves over the years together. They have found themselves at ports all around the world, on all sorts of adventures from freeing cities from large monsters, to causing trouble at the marine bases. Their Captain, Curry, has gained quite the bounty over these adventures, now being worth 1.100.000.000!All and all, the crew is regarded rather highly by many, it is said that they try to spread kindness and help anywhere that they can, only stealing from the corrupt, and the dead. They have liberated many islands, and even gone toe to toe with a dragon! The dragon was a fierce red beast that had spent centuries guarding it's hoards of treasure , which included an ancient artifact that would return anything to a younger, smaller version of itself. The Cloudburst pirates set out to obtain the artifact and thus their Captain snuck onto the island, accidentally tripping and triggering the artifact. This event caused the giant dragon to turn into a small, dog sized cutie. Somehow in the chaos of the event, Capt'n Curry managed to use her charisma (and a healthy amount of bribery) to convince the dragon to join the crew (instead of burning their ship to the ground). The dragon is now known as the crew's mascot, and is known as Paprika! Paprika can often be seen eating crates full of dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets, or threatening to burn the ship down whenever the Captain accidentally gambles all the treasure away. The crew has traveled far and wide, making memories that will last a lifetime. There is no doubt that they will continue to do so for the rest of eternity!
